Best known for their home and commercial security and specialty thermostats, Honeywell Inc. is stepping out of the box and expanding into the world of flat panel television sets. According to the Wall Street Journal, the Honeywell-branded TV sets are expected to go on sale this year under a licensing agreement between the Morris Township, N.J., conglomerate and Soyo Group Inc., a small electronics manufacturer.
This will be Honeywell’s first venture into the consumer electronics sector and Soyo is set to design and distribute the liquid-crystal display TV sets and pay Honeywell royalties.
We’re hoping this deal will result in furthering their electronics selection with computer monitors and displays, but we will have to wait and see.
Loria Yeadon, chief executive of Honeywell Intellectual Properties, Inc. says,
“We think consumers will appreciate having Honeywell-branded electronics because they know that there’s quality in the name.”
Their goal is to create a product that will compete with the “majors” and we can’t wait to see what they come up with.

Who knew we'd start seeing the Honeywell name on TV's? They are already making LCD computer monitors. Honeywell does seem to be the last brand you'd expect to find on home entertainment equipment. What's next? Hoover stereo speakers? Black and Decker DVD players?
