    iNside The iPhone Factory

Worker2large Have you ever wondered just where your new technology comes from?  I know I always have!  When I look at something, say my desktop computer, I always either picture some sort of high-tech lab with lots of robots and people in biohazard suits or some sort of generic, dingy factory with a lot of underpaid, hungry employees spot-welding cases and haphazardly stuffing peripherals into an empty tower.  There’s usually no in-between in the wilds of my imagination.

A nice little glimpse into the world of the iPhone manufacturing plant was given to Mac Forums user markm49uk, when his brand new iPhone 3G came shipped from the factory with pictures on it.  Unfortunately, he put them up on Photobucket, so he’s long since exceeded his bandwidth, but two of the pictures were snagged and reposted on Tech-Ex.  I have to say, she doesn’t look hungry and the factory doesn’t look dingy, but she’s also not in a biohazard suit and I don’t see any robots handy.  It just looks like any old manufacturing facility, except with rubber gloves and no eye protection.

Perhaps this is some convoluted attempt to gain some good publicity, but I kind of doubt it.  It just looks like a couple of workers messing around on the clock.  It’s nice to see that she seems to like her job enough to be able to put on a nice smile and pose for the camera.  I just hope nobody gets fired over these pictures getting out onto the Internet!
