I’m coming at you live from Shaktronics Mobile Headquarters (my laptop) today thanks in no small part to my desktop computer. A few months ago, I started having problems with the My Documents folder. No other folders, just that one. I tried everything I could think of, I consulted the Castle Cops, I bought a registry manager program, and nothing. No matter what I tried, I could not get that error to stop.
I decided to wait to repair it and work around it. That strategy was working just fine, but lately I’ve been getting the itch to upgrade my desktop. Warhammer Online is coming out, and I’d like to play it on my desktop computer, rather than my laptop. I want to turn up the graphics and really revel in the beauty of the game. So I contacted a friend of mine, he did some snooping around on NewEgg, and he’s going to build me a pretty decent game machine for a good price.
That leaves my old desktop. Since it’s a Media Center PC, when my new desktop arrives it’s going to get connected to my cable box and become a full-time DVR. But in order to do that, I had to reformat it. Get this, the hard drive was so bad off that even the restore partition didn’t work! I had to locate, dust off, and use the 4-year-old restore DVDs I made when I first got the computer! So, take it from me, take care of your old computers, especially if you want to use them in the future!
