Thursday, the new World of Warcraft expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, was released. Across the country, nerds and gaming fanatics came together in a celebration of dorkishness at midnight release parties where hundreds congregated and waited to pick up or buy their copy of Blizzard’s newest game. I have several friends did this, and while I didn’t this time, I have waited in line for tickets to concerts and sporting events.
This amusing article over at Kombo details just the sort of people you’ll meet while waiting in these lines. Regardless of what you’re waiting in line for, these guys will be there. When I stood in line to see Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, there were people standing in line in costumes, there were superfans, there were aspiring filmmakers, and there were even some uninterested girlfriends who looked bored and tired while their boyfriends played Magic The Gathering.
Yeah, looking back at my choices of things I’ve waited in line for, I should have said tickets to see the Foo Fighters or even WCW Monday Nitro tickets. Those are both less embarrassing than admitting I stood in line to see the worst of the seven Star Wars films.
