It’s one of the most notoriously bad consoles in history. From a technical and gameplay standpoint, the Xbox 360 is awesome. There are a lot of great games on it. However, from a quality control standpoint, the Xbox is the worst thing to happen to an industry since Ralph Nader’s Chevy Corvair.
Microsoft has changed their customer service and warranty plans on the 360 so often I haven’t been able to keep up. Now, they’re making another change: getting rid of the Xbox coffin (AKA cardboard box with a preprinted return label on it). Now when your Xbox breaks, you have to find your own box to mail it in. How fun! At least MS is still paying for you to return the system to them, which is better than nothing.
No company has taken this level of beating due to faulty design, and no company deserves to take this level of criticism moreso than Microsoft. There’s no reason consoles should die so early and often; my Nintendo survived more abuse than any other console I’ve ever owned! As far as I’m concerned, if I’m spending several hundred dollars on a video game system, the least the company can do is send me a box to sent it back in.
If you’ve still got your old cardboard box laying around from the last time you sent your machine in to be resurrected, I suggest you hang onto it.
