Interesting idea here, though it’s an old one. Buy a subscription to Sports Illustrated, get a free copy of Madden 10 for the video game system of your choice. Kind of like the give-away dishes or encyclopedias they used to offer at the grocery store when I was a kid (or the stuff they gave away at movie theaters when my grandmother was a kid).
In theory, it’s an interesting idea. Kind of those promotions where you sign up for AOL (or some ISP) for two years and you get a free computer. I just wonder if many people will embrace the magazine, and if other magazines will try it. Subscribe to Nintendo Power and get a free Wii game? When I was a youth, I subscribed to Nintendo Power to get a free copy of Dragon Warrior, so I imagine it would still work today. Box of yarn for Knitting Patterns Quarterly? Buy a new laptop, get a subscription to EGM? The possibilities are endless.
What would it take to get you to subscribe to a new magazine?
