In a time in which bars are actively looking for karaoke replacements, it was only a matter of time before someone suggested Rock Band. Bars have been having Wii Sports nights and the like for awhile now, but there’s never been anything official behind it. Now, however, Harmonix and MTV Networks have launched an official “Bar Nights” program to get Rock Band, instruments, and all 800 songs available for the various Rock Band games into bars and other gathering places.
It’s strange, one of the reasons behind karaoke’s decline is karaoke video games and home karaoke systems that allow people to sing to their heart’s content at home. So the solution to this problem is to take something we already have at home and bring it to the bars? I don’t see how this would work, but I think if a bar offered me a Rock Band night then I’d probably go check it out at least once or twice, even if I’m not good enough to rock the bar on Expert.
If you were a bar, would you be interested in Rock Band Night? Or if you were a patron, would you make a trip out for Tuesday Night Rock Band?

It seem to me like Rock Band would be a lot more interactive if you go out with a group of friends. Several people could get up on the stage. I suppose you could do the same with karaoke, but usually it’s a solo effort with your friends egging you on from the audience.
I probably would check it out, just because if I want to play Rock Band or Guitar Hero, I have to drive to my local Best Buy where they are always demoing it.

The only problem with the Best Buy demos is the equipment you play the game on is always too beaten up to give you an accurate representation of the game!

I usually chicken out anyway, once I see those 12 years olds banging the drums.
I guess bars would need to have more heavy duty equipment for the idea to work.
