The latest numbers concerning browser usage are in, and as usual, Internet Explorer is the top dog. Microsoft’s various iterations of IE claim a robust 65% of the market. Not a surprise. What is surprising is the movement at the bottom of the charts. While Mozilla Firefox is still an easy second place, their growth has been slowed by the explosive growth of Google Chrome.
Firefox continues to hold 24% of the market, slightly up, but Google Chrome has jumped up to 3.6% of the market share. Soon it will pass Apple Safari’s 4.4% and has already passed Opera’s 2%. Shockingly, if Chrome continues to grow at its current rate, it will surpass Firefox by February 2010. Now, projections are just guess work, but the big trends are Google’s growth and Microsoft’s continued torpor.
Have you switched to Google Chrome from Firefox or IE? I’ve tried Chrome and wasn’t impressed, but that was when it was first released. I may have to give it a shot again. What say you?
