    iPad Battery Fail

Another Apple product, another horrible battery replacement scheme.  Obviously, Apple is not the sort of company to learn from its previous mistakes, which is why they’ve once again released a product with a battery that cannot be replaced.  If you remember, the earlier iPods also had batteries where, once they failed, you sent your product off to Apple and they sent you back a (refurbished, but they don’t admit to it) iPod with a new battery and none of your old data.  They’re doing the same thing with the iPad, except this time the cost fof your new battery is $105, with shipping.

That’s really sticking it to early adopters.  You have to send back your iPad, you lose everything on said iPad, they send you back a different iPad that’s not yours, and, of course, you pay out the nose for the privilege of something that they should be able to do at any Apple store in 5 minutes, except this way takes over a week thanks to mailing times and general factory waiting around.  Great idea, Jobs.

Comment of the day goes to CH, who said, “Why is it that Steve Jobs’ liver is replaceable, but the battery on any Apple product isn’t?”
