The new iPhone 4G has been announced, and despite what we already knew about it from the many leaks, there were also new details that didn’t get pushed out into the public eye.  Gadget blog DVice has their 6 most important new iPhone features in a convenient infographic.  Personally, I don’t see anything that really makes me want an iPhone in their new feature list.

Only Steve Jobs could get away with selling slight upgrades and old technology that should’ve already been in the iPhone as groundbreaking new features.  I mean, my current cell phone has a flash (and an optical zoom), and it’s almost 2 years old.  Ditto the capability to turn the screen around so it can face me.  Palm’s webOS already does multi-tasking.  Basically, they’ve upgraded the processor and upgraded the screen, and added a SD camera for self-photos and improved the normal camera.

When you compare the iPhone to other leading smartphones, it falls far short of the Droid Incredible, the EVO 4G, and the Nexus One, all of which are OLDER phones.  Plus Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile are all regarded as better wireless carriers for phone service than AT&T.  Long story short, the iPhone 4 is a last-generation phone with next-generation marketing.

Consider me very underwhelmed by our new smartphone overlords.
