In the book world, an endorsement from Oprah meant that you’d sell millions of copies of your book.  Oprah had her legions of followers, and a positive word from O meant money.  I have to wonder if that’s still the case when you’re talking about tablet computers.  Microsoft certainly hopes so.  Oprah added the Microsoft Surface RT tablet to her list of “Oprah’s Favorite Things 2012.”

Here’s what Oprah (or her people) said about the tablet:  ”The Surface, Microsoft’s first tablet, feels like a Mercedes-Benz to me, people!  The full-size keyboard built right into the cover makes work easy, the very smart kickstand makes watching a movie or Skyping a friend a delight, the less than a pound-and-a-half weight makes a great alternative to a laptop, and the many other features make it fun for work and play.  Now, that’s a wowser!”

Granted, Oprah doesn’t have the reach she once did, and her platform has been diminished since she went to cable to start her own cable network, but I’m sure this still has weight with millions of people out there.
